homeless-streets

This coming Sunday morning we will be going to Lynn Park in downtown Birmingham to feed the homeless a warm breakfast. We will be meeting at 6:00 am to help prepare the breakfast. We will be leaving the building at 6:30 am.

Feeding the homeless is more than just showing up and giving a person a sandwich or something to drink. Its deeper than that. It is a realization of how blessed we are and a realization of our responsibility to our fellow man. As Christians we are called to be so much more. It is not just about the food given out. It is about the relationship that one can build with these in more unfortunate circumstances.

When we pull up in our busses at the park, many come running to see us. They come for the food, yes, but I love how they know some of our teens by name. They remember us. They remember who we are and why we are there and many are extremely appreciative.  It is Christ that is being shown and we are grateful for that. We are given the opportunity to serve and we should do so with a loving and generous heart. I thank God everyday for the teens and adults who come out and participate in this service activity.

So, if you have the time, and you have never done something like this before, come and step out of your comfort zone and join us. It will change lives. Yours, and someone else's.
